Steve. It's great to see the 12str up and running. It
stayed in the birthing position so long on my bench that my customers were razzing me about getting it done. I later found out from Greg that the Uni was impossible to put on this guitar.
Maybe someday I can play it if we're ever on the same side of the country.

It plays great Chuck. The trade winds are blowing though. Bob H. is bringing three of his D10's by tomorrow for a possible swap for one of them. He wants to add a 12 to his stable. I'd prefer to find an SD10 but, we'll kick this trade around and see if it's a win win. At my current pace of learning the steel, I doubt I'll ever need more than 3 pedals, 2 knees and eight strings let alone 12. Either way, it's staying in the ZB family.

I got the Diff. type equalizer from Billy Knowles in an attempt to solve an A pedal problem and it works great!! In addition, it was a great learning tool on balancing pulls because it allowed me to try this and that very easily. The only prob. is now I want to replace all my rods with stainless steel.
I also got a knee lever to widen out my knee levers, as in Billy’s prior photos.
Thank You Very Much Billy

Hello Steve
What is the setup on your ZB 12? I was just wondering on account of I love 12 strings and just happen to have a beautiful ZB SD-10.
In any event, have a great day.

Here's my Wider Knee Lever set up from Billy Knowles.
It works good and has very positive stop after adjustment, I'm adding a couple more pulls to the existing set-up. Next... is all new stainless pull rods and equalizers... 2 more pedals.
I'll keep you all posted!!

pickup

Has anyone had a ZB pickup rewound and if so what has been your experience? I have an 11 string that is split at 5,500, 14,000 and 22,000. The 14,000 is a little to high for the middle position. I would rather have 17,500.
thanks

Billy,
Thanks. No serial # since It's a retro ZB that Kevin Hatton built for me. It's built from all original ZB parts including the pickup. It's not finished yet. I should have it at the end of the month.

Hey all you ZB nuts, I need some advice please. Would you guys please tell me what brand of strings sould sound best on a D-10 ZB Custom? I am currently using GHS PF500's, but if there is something out there that gives a better sound, then I sure am interested.
Thanks,
Wally

Hey! That's my baby! Can tell from the 1/2 tuner (don't use it any more), the little crack in the E9 pickup, and the Emmons-style knee levers. And of course the serial #!! (Plus I was told from the prior owner Billy refurb'ed it!)

YES IT DOES!!! You did a nice job on this one (well rumor has it you do a nice job on all of them). I may add another steel someday but I never plan to part with this ZB.
I am guessing mid-70's (Tom Brumley) with this serial number 0330, does that sound right to you experts?

As the aforementioned prior owner, it's killin' me to see those pictures! Man, I knew I was going to regret it when I sold it. I was right!
I never plan to part with this ZB
