It s really really WEIRD for me to change at this time in my life. In March I turn 72, and for the 1st time desire a bunch of money. I have always been the "Green Back Dollar" kind of guy. "Don't give a Damn about the Green Back Dollar, spend it fast as I can" was me. Now I have found a steel guitar that I want very badly and have to find the money to have ROSS build it, as I am designing it in my head. PLANE WEIRD! !

Ross if you feel like answering tech nerd stuff here, is there a reason for the node in the neck around the 11th fret or is that the physical center of the neck? (cool design either way). I used to get loctite in chapstick tubes. Since I haven’t been able to find it recently, I’ve brushed it onto the machine screws and let it dry a bit to keep it out of the female parts. My favorite is to use Nyloc machine screws.

Howdy Chance, Happy to answer questions here. The location of that "node" (I call it a foot, but node sounds cooler) is placed more for aesthetics than anything, close to the center of the span. Nothin too techy....just an effort to let the top resonate...and they do. These suckers get lots of comments for their sustain.

One of these was delivered early last week, the second is almost complete, but a bad fall and its associated back injury 3 weeks ago has had a muy grande bad effect on my ability to stand at a bench for more than a few minutes at a time so its baby steps for the moment.

I do have a couple of 30 second sound samples of the two guitars mentioned that I'll get posted in the next day or two. Gotta get a sound engineer on 'em first in hopes he can make me sound like I know how to play....gulp!

Looking at mine, the contact area of that "node" goes from just below the 9th fret to just above the 11th fret. I think that if had been at the 12th fret there would have been false harmonics in some keys.

As Ross said, the idea is to get as much vibration in the top as possible. The areas on either side of the node are free to vibrate and add sustain. Just 4 bolts at the corners hold the top to the frame.

I seems to me that this idea could be patentable.

I agree with b0b, but at the 12th fret, I’d be more worried about undesired low frequency feedback/rumble. Eyeballing the dimensions in the pics, I think it couldn’t be in a better place for cancelling non musical hz. I can’t wait to get my hands on 1-hopefully next week! Thx for your time guys.

Howdy all, I love, love, love that "new toy and its MINE!" smile when someone gets a cool new toy, tool, musical inst., etc, they've been anticipating.

Making custom bicycles for a couple of decades netted a whole lot of wonderful "NEW BIKE" smiles and memories from happy buyers. These moments rank very high amongst my best bike biz memories.

Got a nice dose of that when the owner of Sierra #6 got his guitar last week. That "new toy" smile helps keep me goin' big time! Thanks Dan!

Yours truly is at the wheel on these vids. I don't consider my self much of a player, so what you'll hear is pretty limited....I can only stand to embarrass myself so much ya know!

The guitars are being played though a 74 Princeton Reverb. Recorded on an Iphone

A little update on Sierra production. My parts inventory is built up for S10 and S12 guitars. Current lead time on a new guitar is 6-7 months.

Thanks for the puzzle b0b, I gave up after about 30 seconds...putting the pedaled beasts together is as much puzzle as I can handle!
