After years of inactivity,I just renewed my license,Dusted off my Kenwood TS440s and am considering a new Tower and 4 Element Monoband Beam.

The good news is I have 7 acres to play with which I never had years ago.

All this looks like it will cost just about what a new SD10 5x4 would run.

Man prices have gone way up in since I last bought Ham gear.

Not as active as I'd like to be....

Well, I've been a ham for about 3 months now. I'm a member of two local clubs and a trained Skywarn Storm Spotter. My 2 meter rig had a meltdown so I'm currently saving up a few bucks for a dual band VHF/UHF mobile and I'll be on the lookout for a HF rig by years end. I plan to take the General test in May.

73 from VA3UX.

Not a steel player, but a steel admirer, and a guitar player of course.

Not active during the past several years but still have all my radio equipment. Was a rabid DX'er during the 80's thru mid 90's. 320-something countries worked, about 310 on CW which is my favorite mode. 5 Band DXCC, 5 Band WAZ, 5 Band WAS, etc etc.

Originally licensed as VE3OZZ in 1984. Check your logs...I could be in there.

Got my 1st phone in 1963, landed a job as chief engineer/announcer of a 2 tower 1 kw directional daytimer with 3 kw FM. One of the employees was a ham and convinced me to take the Tech exam, which I passed no problem. In 1967 I was hired by WCBS 50 kw flagship station of the CBS Radio Network. There were 42 engineers on staff and most were hams. There were another 150 at network most were hams. CBS required a 1st phone ticket and if you were also ham they were very pleased.I upgraded to general, advanced, and extra in short order.

My call is W2BOB, I'm very active on 20 meters Monday thru Thursday at 2030 Zulu with the Broadcasters Net on 14.255. I am Net Control on Wednesdays. The net was founded by 2 CBS hams one from NYC and the other from KMOX in St. Louis (Right down the street from the Millennium Hotel).BTW several years ago while on the stage for the awards ceremonies I asked over the PA if anyone in the ISGC audience was a ham operator. There were about half dozen call signs shouted out.

Years ago there was a 20 meter net that Alvino Rey used to join daily, along with radio and tv personalities. Tis a small world.

Just an update from an earlier post.

I have recently become very active after 20 years of silence and I'm having a bunch of fun.

Just got two Rohn Towers, one 70' and one 40'tilt over along with a TH7DX and a 2 element 40 meter Cushcraft antenna.

The holes for the bases were dug today and I hope to have both antennas up shortly.

Check me (WD5CBO) out on QRZ.com

Yep,that's me up there on that tower.
