You put in your email, zip code, the link to the austin bazzar 80xl page, the love13 code which is Austin Bazzar's current 10% off code and the free shipping and finish filling out the form and submit it. Within a couple of hours they had emailed me a link to the urchase it for 330.86.

Not sure what the difference may be, Rick, but that's an 80X (earlier model).

They are no difference in the two that would effect a steel guitar,the XL has a setting called "extreme" John Davis did a post on it...

Purchased my second 80xl yesterday from Roger here on the forum . Looking forward to experimenting with configuration using both amps.

What, are you looking to open a Roland 80XL shop then Roger?

It's funny, people either love the 80XL or they dislike it. Most people on this forum who have bought it have been delighted with it, but the price is such that it would be a bargain just as a bedroom amp. My Roland Cube is my go to amp for practice, recording and smaller gigs. It is fantastic value for money, and I enjoy it as much as my Webb, but in a different way. I never ever thought I would say that.

For all practical purposes, Ken, I really don't need a big amp anymore. The odd one-nighter I do will only ever be in a small venue (when a single 112 - and now a single 80XL - would be plenty) and on the professional-grade gigs all I need is a good monitor - again, a small amp will suffice for this with a 'feed' to the desk and front-of-house.

Now I've satisfied myself that the Roland will be great for steel, Telecaster and - it now transpires - my acoustic guitars I see no need for any other type of amp. The Roland is light and relatively small; when I go north for my long Summer gig in ND I can cover all bases with three amps (I used to take two 112s and my Roland Acoustic AC-60 - currently for sale on here).

All I have left now is my wonderful Ken Fox Vintage 1x15 tube amp (a replica of the old Bassman) and that's been out of the house precisely once in the two years I've owned it; truly a luxury item and I may see what I can trade that against once the dust has settled.

My two 112s are already sold as are my two NV400s. Next to go will be my two Profex units.

I've only had my 80XL for about a month now and I'm still toying around with it and combining it with another speaker cab. I have two identical "Tommy Huff" cabs, one with a 15" Black Widow Neo, and the other with an Eminence EPS 15C. Using the external speaker jack on the back of the cube, the BW cab is a perfect match volume wise with the volume of the cube. The cab with the Eminence is not loud enough. I'm guessing the BW is a more eficient speaker. Of course if I wanted to use the cab with the Eminence, I could power it with one of my MB200s. It sure does expand the sound using an external speaker. However, if you don't already have a cab and speaker, it is probably cheaper to get a second Cube 80XL. By the way, as some have already mentioned, after checking with Roland, it OK to use a cab with a 4 ohm speaker as an extention cab.

Well I got my Roland Cube 80XL 2 days ago and I'm like a kid in the proverbial candy store. I've owned many amps through the years, but none has more sweet spots that this Cube. I've tried it on my Taylor 710 accoustic, my Strat, my jazz box and my Mullen D-10. It seems to know no limits. Great tone and I've only just begun to experiment with settings. No external effects needed; they are all there.

I'm by no means an expert, but this amp has me exited. I'm turned off by the $129.00 cost of the foot switch, but I may not need it.

Ok...count me in. I just put in and order for one. I should have it in a few days. My back will thank me.

George, I have 2 Cube 80XL's but today I tried one with my empty Nashville 400 cabinet but loaded with a BW (NEO)...great sound and it seemed equal volume from both speakers. I also didn't seem to have to turn up the Cube amp any more, as some have said I might have to. Roland have really done their sums right on this amp. Believe it or not the cab with the Neo is lighter than the Cube, despite the fact it has wheels and side handles. I'll try this combination on my next outing...I'm sure it will sound great...the opened back Nashville 400 cab and the closed back of the Cube

Mickey, My cab, made by tommy Huff is open back and about 17 1/2 x 17 1/2. With the BW Neo it weighs 24 lbs. As I mentioned earlier, the volume is a perfect match with my Cube 80XL. The best of both worlds having a 15" and a 12" speaker together.

Hi George...I've just been down to measure up .... it's 20" by 20" ... on the upper part of the opened back, I've used very thin wood, so all in all it probably will weigh and sound like yours. I'll give it a good blasting tomorrow when my neighbours go to work, but from from what I've heard already, I agree with you a 12" and a 15" will sound the BIZZ!!!

Well, after reading many posts from satisfied users
I bought a cube 80XL a couple of months ago. I have used it on several gigs now and I am a happy camper.
I am keeping my Nashville 112 for a backup, but I am
very pleased with the sound and the available power
of the Roland. I really like the on-board delay too.
And the best part... my back really appreciates the new amp when its time to load in or load out!

Larry...welcome to the Cube Club. I'm sure you will be happy as the rest of us are. Have you seen how many 112's are for sale in "Equptment for sale" ?? Also some Nashville 400's ... I'm not saying they are inferior, just less versatile. I had a 112, and still have my Nashville 400 in split cabinets...see above post on me using the Neo cab with my Cube. I think alot of us guys are realising all the "extras" you get with a Cube...and a darn good tone too and lots of power...and most of all the weight or lack of it, but still being constructed like a Sherman tank. The fun you will find is trying various settings and amp mods...and there's not too many amps on the market that has those facilities...."AND" very inexpensive...actually we pay lots more for them over here DAMN IT!!!!!

My roland cube came today. I can tell right away that it has just the right amount of midrange bite to cut in a live setting. My question is how long does it take to break the speaker in? The speaker is a little harsh...but I think with an ipod plugged into it and played for a couple of hours at a little volume the speaker will break in and sound better.

Bill If you have access to a drum machine that'll do the trick .
