I just got back this morning and I read this posting.

We wish to send our condolcence to Rick's family and may GOD bless and comfort them as only HE can.

Rick made alot of friends and contributions to the steel guitar, the instrument we all love. Again, like others I am shocked and at loss of any other words at this time.

I can't stop crying. I met Rick this year at Dallas and his enthusiasm and encouragement changed my life as a steel player. He was a positive force in the steel guitar community and his great energy and generosity touched many lives. My deepest condolences to his family.

A great inspirational loss.

I didn't know Rick personally but corresponded with him through the forum. I had some simple questions about particular lap steels, 6 or 8 string and instructional material and he was most gracious in answering those questions without making me feel like I was wasting his time. He was a gentleman and gracious in his dealings. May God grant his family the peace that only he can offer.

So sorry to hear this, I met Rick this pass Dallas Show, he bought the T-8 National from me and loved it he wrote me a letter telling me how he liked that National. Kevin Brown played it in the Non-Pedal room in Dallas.
He was so pleasant to deal with, and such a good personality. He will be missed, he was that kind of guy everyone liked.
RIP Rick,
Bill

I feel like I got kicked in the head.....
RIP Rick.

We had exchanged news and tidbits
and he typically commented on my doings over here.
Always a great attitude and love of all things steelers love.

I never got to meet face to face,
but he was high on the lisdt of cats I would have
taken a side trip to get together with had I been
on the western hemisphere more frequently.

I am truly saddened.
I had just been referring an old friend to
Rick's site and music and instrument collection.
as a reference for what is really cool in the field.

I guess that says a lot.
He was a noted reference for `Stringmasters and the like.
And took such joy in it.

DANG,
I miss his presence way more than I might have expected to...

RIP Rick.

DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Real happiness has no strings attached.
But pedal steels have many!

Rick, we never met. However, I called you often and you and if I missed you, you would always return my call. You always gave me outstanding advice and a helping hand. You were always there to help anyone who wanted to learn to play the steel guitar.

Without a doubt you have touched many many hearts and souls and even though your in a better place now, your videos Im sure will still help others.

I would like to add my condolences and best wishes to Rick's family and to his many friends.

This saddens my soul. Rick was always willing to help us guys trying to learn steel. Our love and prayers go out to the family and all his friends which were many.
He who passes with the most friends wins. Rest my friend until we met again.

I only knew Rick from his videos, but they give a person the feeling that you know him. I am thankful I've been able to hear his music on the internet, and so sad there will be no more. A True Master.

I’ve been reading and re-reading this post for the last two weeks and I still can’t believe it. I spoke to Rick a few months ago and was going to go down to his place and hang out. I never got around to it and I never will. We spoke for half an hour or so and you knew what a great guy he was.
My deepest condolences to his family and to the whole steel community, Rick you will be missed.

Wow I'm just getting this bad news. I didn't really know Rick, but I sold him my Fender T8 Custom Pro.
He was very nice and easy to deal with.
My condolences.

Tuck - I know what you mean. It has been a month and the void in the steel guitar world is certainly there, bigger than ever. I miss Rick's upbeat attitude and helpful spirit. He kept me "stoked" about playing my Stringmaster - even at times when I felt like quiting. Let's all keep playing (just to amuse him).
To write with a broken pencil is pointless.
