All the songs listed are great but ; In my opinion the greatest steel solo was Jerry Byrds record of "Carefree" - no pedals , just amazing tone and slants and bar control . Give it a listen sometime . Eddie "C" ( the old geezer )

Ya know yall have mentioned some good ones. But how about Emmons doing "Healing Hands Of Time" with Price? The intro and turnaround is just BEAUITIFUL!! I listen to it every day. Thats my favorite. And my ALL TIME FAVORITE is "At E's". I know Emmons was the original, but i REALLY like to hear it when Terry Crisp plays it!! Maybe one day he'll show me how to play it..lol[/b]

Sneaky Pete's playing on Linda Ronstadts version of "I Fall to Pieces" is one of my all time favorites. This one is the live recording at the Palomino in LA. Maybe I'm fanatic, but I've actually had times when I've backed up and listened to the intro or turnaround two or three tmes, since I can't get enought of it.

Tom Brumleys playing on Buck's "I've Got a Tiger by the Tail" album is exceptional (but, isn't it always?).

Matt - I've seen "The Last Letter" mentioned before. Being a big Mooney fan, I'd love to hear it - if I could find it. Do you know where I could pick up a CD with that song on it?

Hi Ken,

The Waylon CD you want is: "Waylon Live"
Get the remastered and rereleased version (from 2003) which has been expanded from the original 10 or 12 cuts to this version which has over 40 songs.

It's a legendary Waylon performance and, of course, Ralph's playing throughout is sensational - he is featured on nearly every song.

Here's the link to the cd on amazon:
