Why do we call it country music in the first place? Any Country Music.
[This message was edited by Joe Miraglia on 07 May 2002 at 06:49 AM.]

I've been accused of "Just Liking Music"! I like that about myself and it's a nice complement!
I love the Opry concept, because of that too! I wouldn't want to segregate the up- and-coming from the legend artists. Theresa

I have to believe that we do count in the scheme of things, if not why bother to voice your opinion at all. I realize that record producers or artist managers could care less what I think but that's their loss. If they took in to account the opinions of more of the people of our generation instead of gearing their products(and that is about all some of these new acts are)for the 17 to 25 year old group we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.

I like to think I can find something I like to listen to in almost any music genre. I will admit that on a personal basis, I do not like rap and can't find any thing I want to hear in that area. I grew up with a bluegrass and country background with some gospel thrown in for good measure, but was never told I couldn't listen to anything. The first Beatles record I ever owned was one my Dad bought for me when I was a teenager. He thought they were terrible and didn't understand how I could like them. On the advice of his boss, Roy Acuff, he bought it for me anyway. As Mr.Roy said at the time, it ain't country but at least she's listening. As I said previously(and I promise not to repeat it)what you like and what you listen to is not the point here. The point is that just because someone has steel or fiddle or banjo for that matter on their record does not mean they are a country artist or act and I resent being told that they are. To put it in plain English, don't pee on my leg and then tell me it's raining, I'm too smart for that.

I can't find a word to describe how vehemently I disagree with that statement.
In my opinion, this forum has been moderated in an extremely fair and objective way, and always has.

I don't think anyone one is saying, "that's not country". People watching on TV, maybe watching for the first time... If they see new acts and legend acts performing they might be drawn in to country music. What's wrong with that? I don't understand all the labeling. I work with people that like what they hear on the radio and they are buying what they like! Bill, please stay on topic. I opened this thread to read about the Opry, not to read rants about the way this Forum is run.

If you get the boot, it will be because of your continual badgering and harassing, not because of your opinions of country music.

I'm closing this topic.
