I have a few black face Twin Reverbs, an Evans LV500 and a Session 400 that haven't been played much in the last 4 years. Mostly been playing through an AxeFx Mk2 v2 and a QSC K10 or using IEMs.

I have owned and played through several amps to include Little Walter, Stereo Steel, NV 112, Session 400, Telonics, Vibrasonic, Twin, etc.

To my ears, the best sounding for PSG is a NV 400 with the intense fox mod, second and third place would be Stereo Steel and Telonics. Vibrasonic sounds good too.

i gave myself a real treat and recently had Mike Skaggs build me his version of a Super Reverb, 50 watts, 2-6L6 tubes. All premium parts. I built a smaller cabinet with a single 12" TT12. I am a Fender guy and this little amp is just great. We all see Mikes fantastic Emmons rebuilds, but he also builds some really nice amps as well. It has taken a few gigs to break in but it's fantastic. www.p2pamps.com.

I'm loving my '82 PP into a Goodrich Omni volume pedal, into a vintage fender reverb unit, into a '78 Webb 614-e with a Webb ext cab. (with 15" k and e-130's). C6 sounds particularly amazing through this set up.
I've used twins and vibrosonics (which were really nice too) but the Webb set up is an undeniable match to my guitar.

At this moment the number 1 spot would be shared by my Quilter Steelaire combo and my friends Fender Twin Reverb.
My Evans SE200 sounds fantastic when someone else plays through it, but when I play, it doesn't give me the sound that's in my head. The Peavey sound is acceptable but not my favorite.

My favorite is the amp Winnie Thomas put together for me. He rebuilt a hurricane
damaged AB763 Fender Bandmaster and put it in a Deluxe Reverb cabinet
pushing a 12" Eminence Neo pedal steel speaker. Rings like a bell with my Fender
400 and just as good with my Tele or Strat. Just the perfect amp for me.

by the way, that's Winnie in the middle of his shop on the happy day I got to pick
it up. Cool guy who is easy to work with. I'd have him build another if I had another
head but this time with a 15". Gotta cover all the bases.

I'm very, very happy with my 1979 Session 400 with an Altec 418-B 8-ohm speaker. Sweet, great string separation.

Working on a SF Twin Reverb to round out the amp-heap.

Silverface Twin Reverb. Mine is a '73 with KT88 power tubes and Utah 12s. It's got the sound I like best. I don't want to play gigs that 100 watts isn't loud enough for.

Up until recently it's been a modded SF Deluxe Reverb with a D120 but as of two/three weeks ago Ive been enjoying a 15" K130 powered by an old 70 watt Newcomb tube PA head. I use an MXR reverb pedal. It's a very full, balanced, warm and clear sound and the bass stays clean. It takes a pair of 7027A power tubes and has the original RCA backplates. The Deluxe was great but the lows would get buried onstage at times when the band started really thumping! :)

I bought my first Evans from Jim Evans in 1968. It is all hand wired (No transistors, printed circuit boards,or chips) it has a JBL D-130 in it. It still sounds great today. My second Evans was built by Derrell Stevens FET500HV with a JBL it kicks, My third Evans was also built by Derrell it is FET500LV with the Evans Eclipse speaker (Emminence) it also kicks. I still have all of them and they work beautifully. I used them on the road for years and NEVER had a failure. They're tough and they sound great!
