I'm so saddened to hear this Red was such a great character,
and a singer more in love with Steel guitar is hard to find.

RIP Red,
I will wear that Shobud hat with pride and remember you each time.
DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Real happiness has no strings attached.
But pedal steels have many!

Red Kilby

Red was a friend to all. He dearly loved to sing and play music and we all asked him to sing with us at the shows. His spirit was always up and we loved him very much. We will never forget him. May God take Red in his loving arms and keep him in the Heavenly band where he belongs. Love' Buck & Mitzi Grantham

Add me to the list of shocked and saddened friends of Red. I know he was battling cancer, but thought he was on the way back up...

I offer my sincere condolences to Red's family. He will certainly be missed in our steel guitar community, but I sure The Master has plans for dear Red.

Another familiar face missing at the shows

I just love walking into the lobby of the hotel where the steel shows are. That first hour is magical to me. Seeing all the people I only see there and saying your hello's and hand shakes. All true friends.Been doing it for a long time. I think about Red a lot. Didn't know him really well but we always said hello and I always expected to see him next time. Very sad. He sure will be missed!

He called me "Big Brother" and I called him "Little Brother." There is no way for me to say how the loss of Red makes me feel. I know he had his strong faith in The Lord. That is one thing that can give us comfort. I'm sure he's ok now with God. What a loss though for us... I miss you pal.

Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" O.
