I was most emphatic, when I explained to you that I suffered badly from poison ivy as a youth. It's mean stuff! Much like your low blows that have become my sole means of recognizing your contributions to disrupt a worthwhile series of wordy confabs. You CAN be vicious! I would not want to learn more about your initiatory treatment to others. Believe me, I know the type. Anyone can be victimized. The trick is to avoid placing oneself in a vulnerable situation.

Aw c'mon Bill, you initiate a post that sticks a sharp stick in several peoples' eyes and expect to be hit with a powderpuff on the end of a wet noodle. I wouldn't have put it like Chris did but there may be something to the where with all (sic). You said it your self in your last post:

I wanted to draw attention to the fact that the steel guitar is an excellent means of finding how far up the rustic ole flag pole you can climb to rescue "Old Glory". It's perfect, actually! An advanced artistic steel player in perfect form will bring a hush over the most loquacious of grumblers. Nothing could be more perfect!

Your "peripheral vision" is impaired wearing a cowboy hat? Sounds like you got it pulled down to far dude! Our entire band wears hats & boots as well as our large crowds that follow the band.It's just a way of life here. I don't wear a hat when I play steel shows or with other local bands.

But I'm proud of the way we dress in our Western Swing Band.

Now Bill...taking a look at Mr. Edgington's band photo, or even reading Mr. Shannon's avatar under his photo, that is: "The Rocking "S" Ranch Comanchero, Texas, or the other photos of those in Western wear seems to me to display sort of "the spirit of the music" that we play and love.

I'm not saying the pedal steel playing abilities and Western Wear are interchangable at all. But don't you think that "Manly Footwear" and the Stetson go with the type of music that I know you greatly enjoy? You know...like wine goes with cheese or the way beans go with bacon.

Heck Bill...I'm a wannabee on both counts: pedal steel playing and cowboying too. I couldn't cut it as a prospect on a Dude Ranch, but I sure admire the style.

Come on Bill...I think you should get the biggest Western Chapeau that you can find, put it on, then sit at your steel while conjuring visions of the wide open spaces, and let loose with a favorite C&W song...you know...get into the spirit of things. I say this with good will.

I wouldn't get too hefty on the peripheral vision issue. What are you boys eating in Texas? Don't tell me! Not so lean beef, and stout beer? It shows! Depictions in the photo, suggests a block buster cattle rancher's meeting. The garb of successful cattlemen sends a message to fledgling hopefuls, who own a few acres of bottom land, plus a few watering holes. Your band has escaped the hot sun that has made Texas less inviting to some sun-sensitive dwellers of northern climes. Facial skin and calluses can be read as a road map of endurances. I know that air-conditioning would be quite necessary while constantly "moving" to various nightspots in the cattleman's countrywide expanses of T. Tucker's favorite state; the one that she sang about in her song. Thanks for the road map photo. It's one of my favorites. It depicts much more than words. It stands out! Quite impressive! Don't get too comfortable though, something was mentioned of a better way to present a band in public view. Greased lightning steel players require free movement, particularly of the arms.

I never laughed so hard. They do feed us well where ever we play. The whole band got a kick out of you. You can make fun of us all you want but we are one of the best paid bands in south Texas so someone likes us. Keep up the good humor. You're very entertaining. I love this site. Only here can we visit with such different personalities. (Not all good)

Hankey, I've never seen you so mean and personal. What r u eating these days, razor blades and chasing them with black powder?

We folks here know the members of the Billy Mata band very well, and one would be hard pressed to put any one of the 6 on the floor. Matter of fact you'd come off better by sand papering a bobcat's behind (blindfolded) in a telephone booth with the door closed than indulge in a "little tiff" with 4 or 5 of those boys--especially Mata himself.

But disregarding their ability to take care of themselves they are one of the super western swing bands we have in this area. I challenge you to buy one of their cd's, listen to it, and disagree with me. Roger Edgington is one of the best C6 players you'll ever hear. Take it to the bank and for the sake of all players stop sniping. It's really not very representative of your personality and besides that it's pretty crappy on your part.
