Theresa Galbraith wrote:Yes, she's (Alison's) gone... I must say, I agree. She couldn't sing in tune most of the time...

As for John Rich, his comment about not being the best singer, but it's about being a Star upset me alot.
I must admit, I've never watched the show, so I don't really have a dog in this hunt.

But, if even Theresa's dumping on these people, they must be REALLY be bad!

I used to watch American Idol, and I learned to like Simon and Randy, and could even put up with Paula. But Ryan Seacrest finally drove me from watching. I gradually got sick of seeing the phoney "schtick" he's obligated to do with each contestant. Even Billy Mays (the big-mouth Oxy-Clean/Orange Glo guy) would be easier to handle as host. [/b]

John Rich mentioned NBC Executives picked the artists. From that viewers vote on performance. I can't believe viewers are still voting for Coffey??? :(

I still say Gabe's the next Nashville Star! :)

I think the competition on Nashville Star is so close, it's hard to tell who will win.

I wasn't going to put them on the Titanic, by any stretch. Maybe the U.S. Minnow.

Gabe is good and has that "Texas" feel but still I don't see him winding up as one of Nashvilles big newbies...He isn't strong enough to carry this show...

Theresa I agree Gabe is among or probably is this shows best, but I'm still not convinced he can make it big in Nashville.. But he could win this show and maybe with a good song you never know..I just don't hear stardom in his voice...But I have been wrong before...(not much tho)

I don't believe the viewer's votes have any influence on the storyline, or outcome, either. Sure, go on and vote - it'll keep you watching.

My lovely wife T DVR's just about every competition show available and Nashville Star is one of them. I really don't mean anything bad to the contestants (Pat and the band are great), but geeeeezzzz...I really don't understand why the bar has been set so low for this show. We've both been asking each other..."is this the best America has to offer?". And the judges are also basing comments on this low bar although the comments Jewel has made to date bring me to believe she is the sharpest tack in the bunch.

In all fairness, there are a few who are not bad but I just don't see anything remarkable in the least.

Overall I gotta say "ouch". Come on America....really?

Hey Mike,
The thing that bothers me about Jewel is:
She's telling them to really work the audience. I just want them to sing well! :)

"Gabe" reminds me of a very young "Mark Chestnut"Even if he does not become the next "Nashville Star" someone will pick him up.I enjoy watching the show, and plan on watching it next year.(Still wish they would also do a show on "Steelers Worldwide) the fact is it is a clean cut show that "families" can watch together with no violence,or swearing. In this day and age.....its a welcome thing! :D May the best one win!

I watched the last half of last night's show. I think the winner may already be picked, but, if it were up to me, Shawn Mayer has the most salability, looks, big voice...and that all important for videos, SEX APPEAL. 80% of country music is bought by females, though, and that is a big strike against her.

I don't think Gabe sounds like Mark Chestnut in anyway.
I think he has the hunger for Country singing like Mark does!:)

Anyway, I can't believe Coffey is still standing. I still haven't voted, but I do have faith in Country Fans. I think? ?

Go Gabe! :)

I’m gonna talk outa both sides of my mouth about this:

My gut tells me Coffey will be gone next week (and, justifiably, talent wise…_), but, in a way, I could argue that he SHOULD be the winner. Not because he is the best, but, because:

1) he offers the industry a somewhat fresher marketing avenue… Besides Cowboy Troy, who has there been since Charlie…?

2) in comparison to the remaining three, what distinguishes them from any top-tier star in the industry now.. what song could Melissa, or, Shaun do that couldn’t be just as well presented by Carrie, Martina, or Faith, etc. Same with Gabe (granted he does offer the Latino angle), with his current style, what would distinguish a hit by him or George, Tim, Alan, or Kenny, etc. The clean cut, psuedo/fake cowboy angle has been beat to death…

Well I guess that answers my question about Coffey still on the show...Someone said above he is a shot in the arm, just what the Nashville music scene needs..."I think he is a plain ole kick in the rear"..If this is what Nashville needs it will take more than a shot in the arm to keep its popularity...Check back in five years if we are still around... Our chances though are better than his  ..
