Jess Rosen, a very good guitarist and a heavy weight entertainment lawyer here in the Atlanta area is the lawyer that got Aiken out of his Idol contract. I bet you that this new crop of Idolers and Idolettes will never get out of another one after they close all the loopholes and lock em down forever after Aiken got out.

Doug. I did a concert with Aiken here a few months ago. He sings good, but he is pretty light in the sneakers. He sandwiched himself in between two black girls and they just bantered back and forth like high school girls all night long between the tunes! I think he is doing a Broadway show right now just in case you wanted to maybe find some tickets. :-)

Simon: I don't have any lips!

Paula: I don't have my meds!

Randy: I don't have any contacts!

I kind of like that biker nurse chick.

Folks - I just came back to this thread for a quick visit.

Doug B.: I can't believe you're still here wasting your breath, but I applaud you anyway.

Doug said:

"I don't. I have never seen the show. I've only seen clips of it on the news. I would not waste 1 minute of my time on this stuff. These kinds of shows take advantage of people and make fools of them."

Clips on the news!!!!? Doesn't it bother anyone here that American TV has sunk to such depths that this garbage qualifies as a news item?

Now I'm getting scared.....

When a performance is out of tune or out of the song's rhythmic feel, I find it difficult to enjoy the performer's putative soulful expressiveness. In other words, I think you should learn to walk before you try to fly.

OK, Theresa. You're not going to tolerate any 'topic drift' on 'your' thread, is that it?

Haven't you noticed? It's the things work on an internet chat-room - someone raises a point, then it leads to a broader discussion. 'American Idol' - there is, whether you like it or not, a broader issue at stake, and that's the appalling depths that so-called 'entertainment' has sunk to. These contestants are being manipulated, and so are the viewers - including you.

If you don't want to have unwelcome slants on your discussion, then you should conduct it in private - while it's on here, we're all entitled to express views (within the bounds of decency) and I certainly don't have to confine those views to:

"....what you like or dislike about the girls or guys preformance."

That might well be what you'd prefer, but it's not going to happen. I have limited free time and that programme is the last thing I'd waste it on!

Happy viewing....

That's true, Roger. And my view is... this show makes fools and suckers of the contestants, and it makes the viewers look pretty foolish too. The sad part is... it's no worse than 80% of the other $^!& that's on commercial TV today. :?

I can't believe television has dropped as far in the toilet as it has. Don't people have a life anymore, or do they all live for Idol, Dancing With The Stars and all that other dribble that is on. My sweetie watches that stuff. I go to the practice room shut the door and practice. I have seen the show and I think Simon is an a##. The best thing that could happen to him is that some contestant would walk over and biff him right off his chair. Maybe Paula could do it. She is close enough.

:D The show sure does get people riled up. I've often wished that someone would pounce on Simon too. Was it last season he told the kid with the big eyes that he looked like a 'Bushbaby'? He was at his ignorant best (or worst) that night. But then what happened? Instead of slinking away in shame and embarrassment the kid jumps at the chance to come back on in a later episode for the 'rebuttal'. See that's why I have no sympathy for most of these types. For them any kind of attention, either good or bad is the holy grail.

The contract is for 3 months, not forever. It's public information and on the website.

90 days , and it's purpose the way I see it is to protect themselves and the amount of $$$ they invest in every singer that THEY put on TV and auditioned, not someone else.

Is there a line of contstants complaining ?

Not exactly correct. Here is just one example. There are PLENTY of others. I like the part where the contract reads that if any details of the contract are given out then the people you have the contrat with can sue you for $5Million. Real nice. You really think that Carrie Underwood only had a 90 day contract??

Carrie Underwood WON ! She won the SONY Contact which is not the same as the 3 month initial contract.

Is she complaining ? I hadn't heard that she was.

It's an American Idol contest, they discover the talent, sing or go home, audition by there terms or go home. Kinda flakey in my book to try to change the terms after the fact. Know them going in , accept them or don't.

I'm almost a Star now thanks to you , so I want to change the contract, is that what we are talking about here ?

Everbody knows the rules at the start.

Simon Fuller the producer of Idol owns the contract with Carrie Underwood. The Sony recording contract with Underwood is not just with her. It is with Simon Fuller also. She is not allowed to have her OWN contract with Sony. He takes between 25 and 50% of everything she makes for probably the rest of her music career.

Remember, with some of the Idol winners there is a 5 million dollar fine to pay if they give the details of their contract with Fuller. What does that tell you?

More food for thought.

I'm with Theresa. Just ignore posts that just want to bitch all the time.

I am looking forward to the next three nights programs. For me it is fun to see each one of them improve and grow. I always appreciate those that may have that "country" flavor to them but I can appreciate talent irregardless of their style.

I wonder what John Baird and his team would think if they had lived to see just how abused their wonderful invention would be.
