Would this be at all fun?

It was fun to hear what recordings of these my old borrowed computer would play. Like some others have said, I'd like to hear Jeff's version. But I would also like to hear a leavitt tuning version. Now before anyone suggests that I do that I want to clarify. I mean a GOOD leavitt tuning version.

Edward, why don't you do a version using whatever tuning is easiest for you?
Jeff Au Hoy says he's going to do one soon, so that's something to look forward to as well . . .

I haven't the computer equipment or skill to do it. I'm going to visit my son in early October. Maybe he'll be able to help. I never go anywhere without a guitar.

OK, here's my take on it. I went a different direction; I hope no one is offended. I was going for a New Orleans R&B feel, but with the stuff I have, this is a close as I could get without getting the band together. It's got kind of a rhumba beat.

"Percussion" and "bass": Yamaha keyboard
Acoustic rhythm: Takamine dreadnaught through a shure Beta 57

For steel and electric rhythm, I ran though my Line6 guitarPort. It's OK for practice, but the tones aren't great, so it's harsher sounding than when I plug into an amp. I played my Melobar LS6.

Ha! Say, wasn't Highway to Hell the flip side of Cold, Cold Heart?

Peter: it sounds South American to me. I can almost hear the marracas, etc.

Muchas gracias, Alan and Mark. I guess in trying to make it sound one way, I stumbled on something different that worked out. Story of my life...

Thanks, Rick - when I first read this thread, the rhythm just popped into my head. I've been enjoying everyone's different approaches -- your version was great (as usual), so was Andy's bossa nova version. It was also cool to hear George using your tracks.

Everyone who posted sounds so good, and I'm still struggling, so this thread is a real inspiration.

Now, when is Jeff Au Hoy going to post something?

Thanks, Andy - much appreciated!

I wanted to bring this thread back to the top. Surely there are more versions out there (Paging Jeff Au Hoy! Please pick up the convenience phone in the lobby!)

I think it's time, if not to resurrect 'Hank', at least resurrect the thread !!

Thanks for this posting George. I agree with Mel, and hope that you would post the entire version. I have mastered all but one section from your original video and would love to get it all correct. I actually learned how to play this entire song from your excellent video. ( my first complete song)

All the submissions are great so far. I did one using BIAB backing tracks on a National New Yorker in 'Don Helms' E13.
