Well here we go.....
As a blank slate to this instrument, I think all is ready but me. I plucked around on my new steel and amp for the first time today . I have a used NV 400 and I’m wondering what the proper knob settings are for practice around the house and so the neighbor won’t think I’m strangling the cat. Any and all advise would be most welcome and appreciated.
Regards
Dave

Dave,
A NV400 is a GREAT amp! I really like them! Here are the settings I use.
Pre-2 You may already know this, but you can pull the
pre knob out, and it will brighten the tone. I
keep mine pushed in.
Post-8 I leave mine at this setting. If I need to
adjust the volume, I use the Pre. Just
remember to keep the Post setting at
least twice as high as the Pre setting,
or the amp may distort when you really
drive it.
Low-Between +12 and +15
Mid- -9
Shift- 800 I have the "marker" on the know pointing
toward the 8.
High- +3
Pressence-+6
Reverb-5 I use a delay petal, but if I didn't, I'd
run the reverb a little higher.
I get a good sound with these settings. I hope they help you.

There are suggested settings in the operating guide as well. You may view it or download it here;
