Michigan Steel Guitar Association Steel Show

Post by Drew Howard »

On Saturday I was playing a festival about an hour away and drove over to Houghton Lake for Danny Hullihens's show, saw Jim Cohen pick and that was great. Good to see some MI steel guitar cats, Bobby Wright (and his sweet Zum), Gene Calkins, and Keith Ballmer. Sorry I couldn't stay for the other pickers, would have loved to see Doug Jernigan. The band was good, Danny Crampton on drums and Tim Rowley on guitar. Thanks for backing me up guys!! And thanks to Danny for putting the whole thing to together.

cheers,
Drew

It was great hanging out with you and the guys! I met and hung out with a lot of the greatest steel players around! I want to personal thank Bob Wright for hanging out with me and giving me a lot of pointer, Jim Cohen for being such a extremely nice guy and for going out of this way to talk to an amature like me and making me feel welcome and for Danny for putting this event on!
see you guys next year!

I agree with Drew and Keith, thanks for posting the pics and video. Drew, you did a fine job on your set, thanks. Michigan has some of the finest musicians.

Mike Sigler, Doug Jernigan and Jim Cohen put on a great show both days with lots styles of playing. Thanks to all the musicians for coming up to Northern Michigan.
