Uke - Steel cross pollination

Post by Gerald Ross »

As many of you know I have an alter-ego. I am ukulele-ist.

I have met some very cool folks while performing at uke events. Like this guy - Patsy (Patrick) Montelone. Patsy is from NYC, started his singing career at the age of three in 'Little Italy', he now lives near Philadelphia. He is a favorite on the E. Coast uke scene. He has the ability to find very cool old songs, resurrect them and put his stamp on them.

We collaborated on this tune last spring. Now it's finally on his website. Patsy sings and plays the uke. I play guitar, bass and my bakelite Rick in C6.

It's an old tune that was covered by Gene Autry and Frank Sinatra - to name a few.

The Call Of The Canyon.

Wow!! What a demo of how much added flavor and body a mere lap steel can add to a simple rendition when it is played by a
talented guy who knows what he is doing.

Go! Go! Gerald

The beautiful steel work is the best part of the recording. Really nice work. I wish I could play like that, Mr.Gerald Ross.

Gerald

Call of the Canyon will not open for me in WMP. His other song works though. Anyone else have any trouble?
