| DOES ANYONE KNOW WHETHER OR NOT LACQUAR FINISHES ARE AVAILABLE ON NEW ZUMSTEELS. I SAW A PICTURE ON THE WEBSITE OF A DARK RED SUNBURST THAT IS AWESOME LOOKING. I AM THINKING ABOUT PUTTING DOWN A DEPOSIT AND GETTING ON THE LIST, BUT I CANT DECIDE ON A COLOR. |

I think I read somewhere he only uses mica. solid wood is more expensive and takes much longer to get it built. Call him he is a great builder of fine guitars, wait time is a while.

Jeremy MSA will build you a sunburst and wood body, almost anything you could want, but pricey, also Carter buiids custom guitars to order, i think a sunburst would cost about $5,000.00, according to the price i was quoated.

THATS A PRETTY GUITAR. I HAVE CONSIDERED MSA BUT THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE. AND A TRIPLE NECK IS JUST TOO MUCH GUITAR FOR ME. CALL ME PICKY BUT AT THE PRICE A GUITAR COST YOU SHOULD GET WHAT YOU WANT. THE LEGEND MSA GUITARS ARE VERY PRETTY. |

He can make you aheck of a deal on a nice

Jim, just a small correction for you - Johnny Cox's triple neck Zum is actually a Mica guitar !
Dag Wolf has a nice burgundy red lacquer hybrid that he got last year --- so I guess if you talk sweetly enough and have enough ready cash Bruce could be persuaded ha !! |

I have a black mica Zumsteel. Great guitar but a wood lacquer finish might put me in a better mood. How hard would it be to remove the mica from the front and apply a snazzy maple veneer in its place? You think Bruce would mind?

Here's a couple Bud's with some nice wood & lacquer. If I find the detailed ones I'll post them. I always thought someday I'd like to order me a lacquer Zum but that may be gone. Bill Rudolph (Williams) still does some fine lacquer on top grade choice wood though!

| If he woud rather not spend the time doing them himself because he is busy perhaps, I wonder why Bruce Zumsteg does not outsource the lacquer work to a skilled cabinet maker? There seems to be a demand for such a product and the ones on this post look superb. steve t |

OK, I'm over it now.
I took a look underneath my S-12 Zum to see what's involved with taking off the mica and gluing on a maple veneer. Ha, no way! To get the mica and the alum. inlays, you need to remove the endplates. Looks like you'd have to basically take out all the guts, I mean, everything.
Might be a career opportunity for someone, but I don't have that kind of time on my hands.
