Gents,
I want to inform anyone who is either looking to expand their swing repertoire on the C6th neck or looking for top notch backup for some of western swings most memorable classics. I recently purchased the tab and backing tracks. This material is of the finest caliber. I highly recommend Herb's work. This material is suited for the beginner to the most advanced level. The beginner can work on this material and benefit greatly from the backing tracks and advanced players can have some of the finest musicians backing them from the comfort of their own home!
The complete package comes with the CD, Backup CD, and Tab. You can find it on Herb's page.

Herb is a treasure, pure and simple.
Not only is he one of our best players, he is one of our best (possibly THE best) scholar. He knows more about the steel guitar, it's players and it's history than just about anybody.
Small wander he was asked to join the SGHOF advisory board. The other members could not possibly have made a better choice. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

Herb's 6th playing is some of the best out there.
I wish there were more jobs where C-6th could be played all night long.
I just cringe when I see guys buying SD-10 guitars as their main axe.
Maybe its because I am in TX or maybe I should have been born 30 years earlier, but I think C-6th is where it's at! |

I saw where Mike P. mentioned about Herb being a fine steel scholar. I would like to add to that by saying that it would extend into Herb being a fine teacher also, and I have never even took a lesson from him. I just found a notice by him on the For Sale: Music, Lessons, etc. section where he was selling tab and backing track, and a track where he plays the into/outro/solo himself for 3.50 a song.
His other courses interested me a lot, but some of the songs I just didn't know or recognize. In this format I can buy only the songs that I want and know from his list.
It is just a great learning device. I can listen to his example, look at the tab, and then go at it and have a backing track to play along with.
I am very impressed by both the artist and the teacher.
You guys will have to pardon me also as I don't get into the C6th tuning. Maybe one day I will catch the bug, but the E9th sounds so good to me, and that is plenty for a newbie like me to learn on now anyways.
It's ALL good.

I just orderd "swinging on E9th" from Herb, and also ordered 3 singles from him via email. I figure the way my back is goin downhill, I'll have to get a S-10 to be able to carry it before long. And with the Swinging on E9th course, I'll have some C6th sounds without having to have the extra weight of the back neck. I don't play a whole lot of C6 now but I enjoy what I've learned on C6 in the past 1 1/2 years. Now I can continue to play C6th sounds on the E9th neck.
After I learn swinging on E9 vol I, then I can order Swinging on E9 vol II. Thanks to Herb.
