John:
I'm sure that you will enjoy it down here in South Carolina (especially the winter! ) I moved here from Iowa in 1999 and really enjoy living here.
Newberry, SC isn't very far from Saluda, SC where a PSG Convention is held 4 times a year. Watch the "Events & Announcements" section for the next show to be announced. All of the proceeds benefit the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
Feel free to e-mail me anytime at my e-mail address in my profile.

moving to sc
John ,you will love it in Newberry ,I grew up 30 min from thre &have known many people that went to college there, youwill be 45min from Cola SC,about 1hr from Greenville or Spartanburg, not far from the Ga border or NC borders .Fine friendly ,steelers are all around the area. There are several places (opry-type jams&shows)within an hours'drive. If you get to Myrtle Beach area, give Ben&me a chance to jam with you ,we keep 2steels,amps,bass,&guitars set up & ready to play,&have access to good singers here.Don't forget the Newberry Opera House (Herbie& other steelers get here to back up performers several times each yr)Enjoy &be Blessed,Sammy

Saluda show
John, I don't know if you are back on line or not, but just in case, I want to remind you of the Saluda show coming up this weekend Aug 11th and 12th. I am the staff bass player and am originally from NJ. Come on down and say hello. I think it's only about 20-25 miles for you.

moving
well....I also just moved from the country to the city....after 32 yrs...raising 4 kids...and lots of good memories...it was time for a change....we needed to be closer to things...docs...shops...movies...restaurants.....it was a necessary thing to keep peace in the family and make momma happy.....I was very nervous, but so far it has been great.....nice to go to a movie and be home in 10 minutes......not like the 1 1/2 hour drive to our country home....gonna keep the farm...need a place to go ride the massey ferguson and dig in the dirt....breathe some fresh country air...and shoot a deer....good luck to anyone making a move......it is a hard decision, but most things work out for the better.....good luck in your new area....the south is a nice place ...
