I've seen some bands that wouldn't want to hear what the crowd called them!

I'm currently playing steel with two bands, Az. Gunsmoke Band, and The Wild Horse Band. Both classic country with some new stuff mixed in.

I put 5 musicians, who only I had met,
in a NYC practice hall with a DAT machine.
I started the recorder and we improvised
for 45 minutes. Took a break and improvised
for another hour.

Threw the result on a cassette,
played it in a bar just for the giggles,
and got a booking...
For $750 for the night.
Art house / performance artist crowd.

I called the band 'The Free Radicals'
We actually played 3-4 gigs off that tape.

The Booger Hole Revival ( a "booger" is West Virginia poetica for the ghost of a person who has died a violent death. The "holler" where this occurred is a booger hole. We spent a lot of time explaining the name so we became the Back Road Travelers)

The first band was The Vibratones in 66.
In 70 it was Sonata Ru which was a
Soul band with black singers/horn players, B3 player and me playing the drums. In around 78 it was The Goldrush band with me on drums,
79-82 it John Paine and Pleasure, B3/A100 organ/drummer combo with a sax/flute/claronet player on Fri-Sat and sometimes had a guitar player and bass player (Sonny Lamair from Exile) until I started on steel guitar in 81 and currently it's been The Vibratones surprisingly. I guess all things do come back around. As of the next band of my own it'll be The Nashville Garage Band.

The 1st band I played with I was only 9yrs old played on the radio every Sat morning the Country Drifters 1954.

Warren Figler an his Hoe Down Boys. 60's " Scotty an my Dad played in this band before me".

The first band I was ever in was actually called 'Ten Ton Tom'. Currently playing with 'HotWingJones' changed from 'HotWingJesus' which apparantly angered some closely connected with the band.

Favorite thing I've seen on here is 'Dildo Daddy and the Vibrations'! Fantastic!

Played one night with a band called J.R.Withers and the Illinois Boys. The first song we played was "For the good times". With 3 chords, and none was a minor. Needless to say it was a long night.
