I dragged my Super Imperial out of the garage and cranked it up. What a great sound!!

Did all of their solid state amps have closed back cabinets or are some open? I may look for another single 15 inch combo that is not as heavy. Mine is a combo with two 15 inch speakers.

Thanks, Dave

Dave, I sure like the sound of mine, which is a Custom 15, and it weighs just under 50 lbs, a little more than a Nashville 112. There is ALSO a Custom XV, which is a different model yet. Mine has an Altec 418B in it. There's one in "Forsale" to check out. Here's some pics of mine. The actual watts rms is about 70 watts, according to Danny Mckinney of Standel Company.

As I recall these must have been good amps seeing there was a rock band called the "Standels", I still remember the hook from "Dirty Water"

I had a 2-15 model and a friend had a 4-12 model back around 1970-71. They were too clean for us back then. Certainly not a bad thing for a steel guitar amp though. The 140 watts on the back is consumption. Output was closer to 100 watts. CMI (Chicago Musical Instruments marketed them to Gibson etc. dealers.

Not trying to be confrontational, but according to Danny Mckinney, President of Standel, consumpition is 140 watts and 70 watts output, not 100 watts output. Rolling Eyes

He would know. I remember what they were said to put out compared to the competition. I may have sales lit for them somewhere. If I find it, I'll post it.
