FS: 1946 Kiesel lapsteel

Post by Steve Farnell »

For sale is a 1946 Kiesel lapsteel guitar. The instrument is excellent condition except for a ding on the back of the head which I've attempted to show in the photos. This ding has no effect on the playability or functioning of the guitar. This is a real collector's piece.

Before there was Carvin there was Kiesel. Here's a good historical rundown on Kiesel. Scroll down the page to see good pics of this collector/museum piece.

The lap steel is made of Bakalite and the pickup is quite unique. This guitar plays the Chicago Blues like no other that I've heard. It also has been used in a bluegrass band. The case is pretty beat up but is still functional. It looks it's age.

The sale price is $425 plus the cost of shipping which I estimate to be $50. If it is less, I will refund the overpayment. If it is more, I will pay the additional cost. I will ship to the continental US and Canada only. I will pay any Paypal fees.

I saw another '46 Kiesel recently sell online for $795. I am confident that the value will continue to increase over time.

Here's a pic. If you're interested, send me an email at: farnell1@pacbell.net. I can send additional photos to those interested.

I've got one that is almost identical to this. The only difference is the fingerboard. It's a really great sounding guitar, soundwise right in the middle between a bakelite rick and a stringmaster.
