Randy. that red 68 is the same as my 68 serial #1077 before I changed it to Carnegie Hall black. I've seen many 68's with that same color and inlay. What serial # is your guitar? That's Gene Oneil I think on his.

Smike, there is something wrong with your email. Everyone else has gotten my emails. Twice I had a not valid email return on replying to you. Fret boards are $29.95 plus postage. They are brand new, same as old stock. I have ZB parts if you need them.

The red '68 was a "kit guitar". Zane would finish out the cabinet and fit necks, endplates, keyheads, etc. then send you all the undercarriage and changer for you to install. My Dad put it all together using the blonde '66 as a template.

The blonde guitar was mine also.

Hi there folks,

It's been quite the time since I was on the forum - but glad to see the ol' Z.B. threads are still going on strong......................5 years........wow!!
I was interested to see the reply from Richard Burton regarding the number 0650 which he discussed as I have number 0649 an SD10 which I've owned approximately 29/30 years which was bought in the U.K. from a good buddy of mine who passed away a number of years ago back there.
I find it totaly amazing as time rolls by - the way the weight of the ol' Z.B's get even more heavy.

Bob, the weight and mass is part of what gives ZB's that great sound. Split your cases and it will totally solve the weight issue.

Pat, cases do get lighter. Not only lighter but stronger. Larry, I make split cases for ZB's. I just made a set for Steinar Shroeder and am sending them down to Greg Jones for his guitar. I've made them for Mike Auldridge, Jim Evans, and many others. They take 20 pounds off the total carry weight and have wheels and a spring handle. Very nice cases. Call me at (716)-691-7505. Found the picture of my old ZB D-10 8 X 5 in some of my mothers old photos. Sure wish I had it today. I think the picture was taken in 1973 or somewhere in that time period.

Good deal but needs a little work
Not bad though and seem to function

This guitar has the e changes on the right knee whereas my other one has them on the left. Does anyone have any experience in getting used to two different setups?

Congrats Pat!

The E lowers on 3 of my working guitars are in different positions. I can actually deal with it but I space out every noe and then and engage the wrong knee. It took a little time getting used to it but it's not a problem. I mostly stick to one guitar these days but if I take a different one out to a gig I play it for a while before the gig.

The guitar arrived this afternoon. This is a whistler. I have been playing a ZB for a while but when I plugged this in my eyes (and ears) popped. This has tone to burst. Congratulations and thanks to Tom Bradshaw who did the restoration. And thanks to Steve
Benzian who sold me the guitar.
