Congrats to the CISGA group for putting on a great steel show yesterday in morton illinois! It was in a very nice convention room at the best western in morton illinois with nice acoustics. The back up musicians were great players and did an excellent job backing up all the steel players. Heh, the poor piano player got worked to death but at the end of the night he was still smoking the keys. All the steel players played their hearts out and the crowd loved it. For me the standouts were: John Sawyer. From the very first note you could tell that John loves music and the steel guitar, tone and taste all the way. Russ Wever was really good and also did double duty on bass quite a bit of the time and was nailing the groove. Dale Thomas was impeccable as usual. TC Furlong knocked me out with his playing and big sound. My next purchase is going to be one of His amps. His off the cuff version of "lineman" was great too. Jerry Erickson's band with horns was also an awesome change up for the day. and of course the featured player Terry Crisp. Terry playing "At E's" absolutely smoked and "Greensleeves" was beautiful. Tone touch and taste shows why he is where he is today, also His very pretty and tiny wife with a big big voice Christy is an extremely extremely talented singer that made their set just sparkle. I can hardly wait until next year to see how CISGA tries to top this years show.
