I have no idea how I would share this with you, but I have a file of Roy Acuff introducing the very first pedal steel performance on the Grand Ole Opry. I got it from Larry Marrs.

Anybody wanna take a crack at guessing who the player was? (Roy does introduce him.)

Roy says, in part, "I hope it'll be received good by you people out there, because it is actually something that we really don't know what will become of it."

I guess that has held true, hasn't it??? Laughing

Roy also calls it "an instrument of 36 strings" and says the young man is "on the nervous side" and said, "Roy, I don't know whether I can demonstrate it as it should be"... and then Roy slightly mispronounces his name... go figure...
