I wonder why he didn't play , did someone steal his amp ? maybe his lead was pulled out or his guitar decided not to work just before the song started . We will never know but George and the other guys did a great job on that .

You can hear Sonny filling on the last verse. He's one of the most original and great E9 players. I think he played a backwards pedal set-up, with pedals down being the open position. Also it looks like he might have had his E9 on the inside neck, or else he was comping on the C6 during the guitar solo.
Listen to his fantastic solo, if you can find it, on "Milwaukee Here We Come."

Definitely Hal Rugg on that video. What a great live performance by all involved. Thanks for sharing that. The version I was talking about is the one that George alludes to with Brenda Carter, and was on an old Musicor album. However, it's also been re-issued on a CD, but I'm not sure which one.
