This year The Grand Ladies of Country Music are performing at the "God & Country Theatre" on the strip beside Appleby's Restaurant. The "secret" part is--- This past friday night my wife and I took in the show where our good friend, Steve Matlock, plays steel for them AND when Mr Tillis is in town, three of the Statesiders set in with Steve. Barry Bales on Lead Guitar, Wade Landry on fiddle and mc work and Chuck Landry on drums. You talk about some serious kickin B--- !!!! wow!! They are joined by regulars Mark Abott on bass and David Byrd on keyboards, both great muscians in their own rights. Friday night Mary Lou Turner, Leona Williams and Jean Shepherd were the performers. Guys and gals this was knock down country played and performed like we all remember !!! Makes the hair stand up on your arms believe me.! Check it out when you are in Branson !-  |

| That is really a great country show. Saw it several weeks ago. Steve does a great job on steel. Another great show is the Lisa Layne show in the same theatre with Boo Miller on steel. Lisa is great and Boo is super. |

Thanks for the tip, Bowie---we'll sure try to catch that one too. I'd like to hear Boo pick--I know he's got to be good from all I've heard. Anxious to meet him and visit. He was at our Christmas party in Branson and got to say a brief hi then.
A question was emailed to me about Steve in the mix. I think sound men catch the brunt of things many times when they really are doing their best to please the crowd. In that light I'd like to offer what happened there at the show : Steve was pretty weak in the mix the first half and he and I were talking about it at break when the sound man came by. Steve introduced him to me (I wish I could remember his name) and we discussed the thing and he let me help set Steve the second half by signaling him from the crowd center below and man was it great !!. How many sound man would trust someone to help like that ? Hat's off to this man !! I wish I could remember his name to give proper credit but he is one I'll remember. |

Thanks for all the kind comments. Glad you enjoyed the show. Bill, it was really helpful to have your input on the mix. The sound man really appreciated it too. We've got some great pickers on the shows at the God & Country Theater and we're playing real country music too!
