I've been meaning to post this for a couple of weeks. I've been teaching my ten-year old grandson, Francesco, to play the lap steel and resonator. The picture was taken Aug 19 at the Thorold Music Shop (Thorold, ON) Saturday morning jam session. He played four tunes including Steel Guitar Rag (in the G tuning no less which he learned by himself). The gang at the store were in awe. He even suprises me with his playing ability. He loves it so much, he is playing continuously. That instrument is a Beaver Creek round neck, and he also has a Grenada lap steel. He's learned simply by watching me and trying until he gets it. While I wanted to teach him tab, he just ignored it until after this picture was taken, and he can read the tab with little difficulty. Oh to be young again.
Edited to add that the older player to his left next to the lady is Gene Sawyer, not me.
