Although I have never taken the body of my T8 apart, I have renovated it to accommodate a standard i/4” output jack. I noticed that mine has a metal rod running through it. I believe the ends of the rod/rods are hidden behind the aprons. If this is how the body is fastened together, these rods may have loosened, causing your problem. You may be able to remove the aprons to tighten up the rods.

I'm being a little opportunistic here so appologies ! Ive got a similar looking d8 National Console one neck is noticably louder than the other, I'm thinking this maybe a pickup problem or maybe I'm being too sensitive - just like to know if other owners notice this on National consoles or do I need to investigate further

I notice a significant decrease in volume when I have all 3 necks of my T8 on at the same time.

Larry, That is normal with multi-neck guitars. Activating two or three of the necks at the same time diminishes the overall tone and volume of the guitar. Activating just one neck at a time produces more volume and better tone.

Getting back on track...
Scott, you might try contacting Gary Brawer in San Francisco. His shop is one of the best in the Bay Area, and employs a steel player (Max Butler) among others.

You’re right Doug. I thought maybe Chris may have noticed this difference when he had both necks turned on. By the way, do you know of any source of parts for these National consoles?

I don't know of any source for old National parts. I would place an ad in the Wanted To Buy section of the Forum, or just watch eBay.

Thanks Scott,Doug and Larry for responding to my National pick up question I think I need to investigate further might have a short on the pick up. I'm aware that with a multi neck you do normally have a reduction in volume when all necks are engaged as with my stringmaster but thanks for raising it.
I think this problem has been mentioned on the forum before although I can't find it at the moment I'll try a modified search
thanks again !

I'm wondering if you could take a Dremel tool, and cut slots in the bolt ends, loosen up the nuts with some sort of stuff, like WD-40 and then tighten them using a big ole screwdriver???
