Aloha All,
I have a set of Gibson pups from a 1954 Console Grande, and have a couple of questions. 1. After I check for continuity, what resistance reading should I expect? 2. Should I try to mount them on springs, as they were not on my old guitar. Any help would be great, I am building up an 8 string lap for the Leavett tuning.

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil It may be desirable to mount the pickups with the springs under them for height adjustment, unless there isn't enough room under them, in which case you could shim them with washers or a shim plate to the height you need. I have no idea of the DC resistance of those, but if you give Jason Lollar a call (206)463-9838, he may know.
Are they from different positions, or from different necks? If they are both from a bridge position,on different necks, they should read close to the same resistance.
Are you gonna make it to Winchester this year??

Best regards BILL

Phil,
The pickups on my 1953 Gibson Console Grand measure
10,000 ohms.

Aloha Phil,

My aging memory seems to recall that the pole pieces on these pickups were the adjustable screw type, thus making the mounting height less critical. A solid mount might result in a better sound as a result.
