Buddy sounds great here, but wish they had not picked his ride to do the band advertising right over his intire play chores.

Yes, not surprisingly they pick his solo to fill the screen with logos. Most of the people watching probably didnt know what he was playing anyway.I dont know how many people asked me after a gig if I was "playing some sort of keyboard or something?"
His stuff with the Great Speckled Bird was also very good (Truckers Cafe); I got into him through nrps though. Theres something about his style that always attracted me. Truthfully it was 'the wheel' by Garcia and NRPS that made me go out and buy a steel.

The New Riders Of The Purple Sage
Hey There, Corey; Thanks for posting this clip of the NRPS. One of their great tunes of that time period, on their road to Fame. The song which caught my ear and made my hair stand on end was " PANAMA RED ". NRPS were my number one played albums, after hearing them do that fabulous tune.. I was a die-hard C/W Classic Country Steel Picker, but soon became an admirer of this young group and their music. When Panama Red was riding high on the charts, a young group of musicians were attempting to do NRPS material, here in my geo. area. They had no steel player, but heard my band and I, at a Jamboree, doing our version of Panama Red. As I was only doing one Sat. Nite "GIG" per week, This group contacted me and asked if I'd care to sit in sometime and let them do some NRPS tunes. Wow, what a time we had; The most fun and enjoyment that I'd had in a long time. I was double any one of these lads ages, but surely brought life back into my Forty-Some Years body. Comments from other steel players, when working with these young men, were the most compliments I'd ever rec'd, during some 20 years as a strictly country music steel picker. This was one of the Hi-Lites of my active playing years. Thanks for allowing me to share this experience with you all..Regards, Bernie
