Is this the one?
Looks like it may be a custom Valco job, there's traces of both Supro and National there.

I agree it looks Valco-esque, though the pickup covers and bridge make me think Magnatone.

Thanks, yeah thats the D-8. It has E13 on the front neck & C6th on the back, sure is fun to play, & sounds so good. I can't understand why there would be no indication of the maker. If I made one that sounded that good I would sure put my name on it. Maybe it had some sort of name or decal at one time, but there is no sign of it. 24 1/4 scale on there. I did not get a case with it or legs, but they can be added to the guitar.

the front knob is the volume control for either neck, the back one is a tone control. The little switch in between them is the neck selector switch, either front or back, can't have both on at the same time.

There is a plate covering the vol & tone control switches, but I took it off looking for serial #'s or name, there is none on that plate.

Valco's products usually have a small metal behind the headstock with a serial # on it, a letter followed by a string of numbers. Magnatone's serial #'s are usually shorter.

It's almost certainly some kind of Carvin steel guitar, but I can't find anything that matches exactly on the Carvin Museum web site.
Here's a doubleneck Carvin from 1955:
Note the fretboard markings and knobs seem to be identical, but the pickup arrangement is different, with the pickup in front of the hand rest.
I couldn't find any doubleneck with the scoop between the necks as this guitar has.

Well, since it has been determined that it is probably a Carvin Steel, wonder what this thing would be valued at today?? I have no clue, the last one [D-8] I had was a Remington & it was much newer guitar & in better shape. This one has a few dings & a place on the back where the mother of pearl is off & a little paint in its place, but from the front looks very nice. One set of tuners has been replaced with newer ones, the other set is probably stock. There is no case with it either. But, it sure sounds good.

Michael: the numbers on the pot on the Carvin steel are both the same 150M

| Actually it's a Kiesel, Carvin's original name. I have a single 6 with the same pickup, knobs and bridge. They usually sound really good. |
