Bob is a superior person to deal with,I am playing a fine steel Ben(my son)& Bob Knight worked out a trade on.Could it have been the weight of the Dekley ,that made him return to back into this era? God bless you Bob!

Dekley

Post by Bob Knight »

Hey Sammy,
The Dekley has made a change in it's life. It has moved on to play in a church in Lexington KY. YES, It was heavy, but had one of the best sounding C6th necks I ever heard. :)
I miss it already :(

BTW, Thanks to you and all for the kind words.

Best Regards,
Bob

Post by James Heady »

Brian.... I useually don`t reply to these "HOT" topics, but I`m going to this time.
I`m sorry to hear about your experience on the forum. It`s hard to believe that things like that goes on. You`d think on the forum that you`d get what is advertised and not a piece of crap. SK should of known that there would be retaleation to the sale...
On another note...Dannys reply and offer for your problem does`nt surprise me at all. I`ve done business with him for a long time (guitars, amps, PA systems etc.) You could`nt ask for a nicer person. He redid my Super-Pro Sho-Bud and did a wonderful job on it. It costs a lot of time and money to fix up them buds and to offer it for nothing is a mighty generous thing. Danny is like everyone else in this world, trying to make a living the hard way. I for one am willing to kick in to help the cause also. Danny does`nt need the full burden. When someone gets things organized on how to procede with this situation, please contact the forum members that want to donate.
This will help solve your problem brian, but also it will get SK off the hook for his wrong doings. In the long run he`ll pay I`m sure....Jim Heady

Do not misunderstand--this is NOT about getting skip keane off the hook. It is only about helping Frenchy get squared away, and help take the sting out of the ripoff he just got served. Skip still owes Frenchy AND this brotherhood of steelers a big one. Of course, things COULD mellow out a little around here if sk would grow some backbone and do whats right. But since he took the mans money and ran, well-----------------I'd better shut up, before I speak my mind!!

wow - i havent even read this thread until about 5 minutes ago - sad sad deal - im no lawyer - but even if small claims judges for frenchy, i am not sure that would mean much - i think it would still be hard for the man to get his money from another man in another state - i wish him the best and regardless i want in on the "save the cheese cutter" campaign - put me down for $25 and let me know where to send it and how it should be sent

Yes, an unenforceable judgment is an expensive way to go, and this is what those eBay-ers who are selling things they don't have play on.

If there was a written agreement then small claims would be an option, but if this deal was strictly volunter that would be a tough one. It would be your word against his, and you have to accept that you may not have a case.

But you have to travel to the miscreant's state to file a small claim. You may have to travel there twice: once to file the claim and again to appear in court. That costs money, and even if you get a judgment you still have to enforce it, which will cost more money, assuming that he has any assets. You can file a small claim in your home state, but then you have the problem of enforcing it in his state. :(

I've been there and done that, spent money and received nothing but expense and wasted time. :(

Ain't it amazing how the law protects a crook?? Crap like this didn't happen 100 years ago. You paid one way or the other, if you were wrong.

Skip IS paying one way or another, his name is now mudd here. small consolation Im sure but thats about all you get, I wouldn't trade 1k$ for my rep, my dignity or my invovlement in this forum but maybe to him its worth it... lets face it, there are bad people in this world. Frenchy seems like a cool cat...much cooler than i would be about it. We should all probably just let this go and let the powers that be settle it however they might. That seems to be frenchys attitude and I applaud that. we all know in our own hearts wether we are doing wrong or right... living with the repercussions of our actions requires a concious, i feel sorry for those that dont have that because they are doomed one way or another. You all can be proud of yoursleves for the support and tremendous goodwill youve displayed. Im awed by it frankly....

I don't play steel but there is not a bigger fan. I will also throw in 25 on one condition, pictures on this fourm before and after the overhaul. I think every one would like to see that. Left me know the address.

"called today to Court, Keanes is counter suing me for $3000"

Well now... isn't that special! It sounds to me like, "I deceived him once for $1500.00, so maybe this time I can do it again for double the money?" Apparently some folks just don't have any conscience, or feelings of regret whatsoever for what they have done. At one time a guy might entertain the thought that all this might have been an embarrassing mistake, but perhaps just too proud to admit it? However, considering whats happening now, I think you can rule that out completely, as nefarious intentions seems to be real ploy from the beginning? I hate to think that something like this can happen in this community of very trustworthy people, but it's at least comforting to know that things like this are indeed, quite the exception and not the rule.

Best of luck to you Frenchy, and no matter how it all turns out, you'll still clearly be the true winner in the end. My offer to refurbish your guitar is still good, and will remain so regardless of what may happen on this.

Him counter suing you is just to try to get you to back out of the small court claim against him.
That happens in big dollar cases too.
Just keep the pictures and all of the evidence you have.
Even if in some way he did win the case he will always be a looser on the forum.
