Stephen You are right it is a good song, I always had trouble with the second chord of the intro, if any one could give me the tab to this chord I would be very thankful.

If the record key is F#, the second chord seems to be a D7 at the 9th fret on C6.
Strings 4,6,9 w/6th pedal and toggling back and forth raising 4 with a knee lever. So between a D7 and a D11. So in number talk, it's a 5#,
which sets up the modulation very nicely.

I'm not sure of what the chord names are but about 22 or 23 years ago when I was still in SoCal, our fiddle player sang it in the key of F. I was playing my old ShoBud U-12 then and the intro I did was with the E's lowered at the 6th fret. I'd use the pedal that raised the 5th & 6th strings a whole tone each and just strum the chord, then rock on and off the pedal twice, move to the 7th fret and do the same thing. Then move to the 8th fret and repeat it again and then walk back to the root from the five. Each move was one measure. I don't know what I was doing but it worked. To do the same thing on C6th, you'd just start at the 5th fret and use the pedal that raises your 3rd and 4th strings a whole tone! It's probably nowhere near the same but if you're familiar with the old Ray Price recording it's a vague resemblance!.......JH in Va.
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!

I see the intro from Ricky above but could someone give me a quick rundown of the chords in the verse. I don't need tab.

Thanks,
