Well it looks like I have to come to Brisbane from Bangkok
for a visa run on the 23rd.
Closer than all the other consulates,
and there doesn't seem to be one in Darwin.
May get in in time to see day 2.
Haven't been to a steel show since Drogheda.
Wish my LNR was working so I could practice first. ah we..
I still got ears.
Not so sure I have flights though. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

I DO have flights,
So I AM coming to OZ for a 1st visit.
But I get in likely too late for Saturday's show..
Sooo... What time does it stop??
Likely early, compared to a club gig.
I think I land around 10:45 pm.
Is there a decent inexpensive hotel nearby?
Especially if it takes AMEX cards..
How far is the Kedron Wavell Services Club
Hamilton Road from the airport?
At least I get a full sunday steel show!
Anybody need a sight reading jazz/ latin/hawaian/country bass player
for a set??
Looks like I will bump into Tony Davis
in HIS neck of the woods
instead of St Louis or Nashville for a change
This should prove interesting. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Hi Paddy.
I am looking forward to hearing you for sure.
"Entry is by the usual Gold Coin Admission"
I have no clue what THIS means???
Who knows maybe I will hear a lick or two round midnight,
But at least the jet lag won't be too bad on sunday.
This was totally unexpected.
I had planned on Kuala Lumpur, but after tickets were booked,
someone anounced that it would be VERY difficult to
get the visa renewal there, and to find a consular officer in OZ.
Since the coup / change of government,
things are not terribly precise, or organizationally repeatable here.
So change of plan.
Ah well it JUST so happens to coincide with a steel show!
How's that for good luck. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Good one Donald -- the gold coin thing, is just $2 I think ...or a donation of small change ! Can't help you with the accomm - perhaps one of the Aussies will jump in and suggest something. I'm staying with Warren Neilson so I'm organised. The clubrooms has a good restaurant and several bars serving good cold beers and the concert venue is very good and quite large. Look forward to meeting you mate |

David, see if you can book into the Chermside Green motel (07) 3359 1041. I was supposed to be playing on the Sunday concert but have had to cancel my trip as I have hurt my back rather badly. A few of the regulars stay at the Chermside as it is only a few minutes walk to the Kedron- Wavell club. |

Ivan, sorry to hear about your back.
Hope it gets better soon.
Also sorry I won't get to hear you play.
In any case thanks for the tip on the room.
Best of luck.
