On Monday I ordered the Steel Guitar Black Box from Brad Sarno. I can hardly wait until it gets here. I have heard nothing but good things about Brad and his products. I will post after I give it a good test.

Paul, I love mine, it really warms your sound up were you won't want to play without it. You'll have a smile on your face for a good while.

My suggestion is; keep playing it for several days, take it to several gigs.

It takes some time to understand what it does and how it will help your sound/tone.

When I got mine, I didn't fully understand what it did until some playing time with it. I would never want to be without it now.

It took about 3 live gigs until it really 'kicked in' for me. But that's just me.

Good advice from Marlin. Give it some time to break in. I really like my Steel Guitar Black Box A LOT. In a recent thread posted two MP3's of me playing a tune with and without a Black Box. It's a pretty interesting comparison.

Paul,
You'll definitely hear a positive difference in your tone--I bought a new BB from Brad two years ago and just recently sent it back to him for the "tone control" knob upgrade--Brad also made sure it was still performing up to his quality standard. The BB can now be "tweaked" to get the tone you want--what a product and Brad's service is superb! We are fortunate to have so many on this forum who are gifted with either mechanical or electronic skills and/or both to keep us going...Paul, let us know what you think of the BB? Carl

I received my Black Box Monday and give it a test that night. I can tell a difference for sure. I just need some time to get used it. My steel just does not have as good a sound as some of the others I have had before and the Black Box sure does help. Thanks Brad for the products you have made. Like Herby Wallace told me, Brad is a steel player and he knows what it is supposed to sound like.

Nice post Paul.I have been wanting to try the steel guitar Black Box. Your opinion will help me. I do notice that a lot of the pros have the little blue power light if you look in their rack cases.

I played a gig Sunday evening with the Black Box. My steel does not sound as good to my ears as I want it to. I did video the event and the tone coming through the mains really surprised me. It sounded very good and my bar placement wa right on the money. Tone and being clean and smooth means so much to me as a player. Brad Sarno has to be a brilliant man to design the electronics for steel guitar like he has in the past. Thanks Brad.

My Black Box was just delivered today. I am more than satisfied. What a difference.

Along with the Sarno mod that Ken Fox did on my Peavey LTD, the SGBB takes the tone from my ShoBud that used to be black and white and turns it into Technicolor.

Brad and Ken, Thanks again. You guys are brilliant.
