My buddie Oakley recommended the Sierra back when I first joined the forum ... and I've used it in every single magnet assembly / pickup / prototype / experiment ... we ever did.

Well, that "stage" of life is pretty much over now ... and it was time to make right by this trusty ol' "control" ...

So I made a new plate ... a new magnet assembly ... and put in my Kong coil (the big guy) ...







These types of pickups function best when close to the bridge ... can't get a-whole lot closer than this ...


Tucker thinks it's mighty tastey too ...

Hey, Rick...

My word, Rick! That Sierra has come along way. I think my comment "back when" was..."the Sierra sounds like the pre-war Rick Bakelite on steroids!" I'm sure this modification gave it a lot of extra "juice." Tell us how it sounds in comparison to your numerous "other" lap steels.

By the way, my Excel which we retrofitted with your horse shoe and Lollar's coils is some more axe also. No comparison between the "before" and "after," with the "after" being far superior.

Ok... and when are you going to lay a Dust Pan, or your souped up Sierra across that high chair tray for Tucker to commence? He looks like he's chomping at the bit. Can't start 'em too young! Looks like the next JB or lap steel great just waiting to get cranked up. And...that red hair makes him a "can't loose" candidate for being not only a future steel "great"...but also the premier scientist of his generation! Thanks for posting the update on the latest "hot rod" Sierra.
