Since I've posted an Andy Iona song ...

That Night in Avalon.

Courtesy of Cumquat Records ... Andy Iona Vol 9

This has stayed at the #1 position on Rick's Pics ... for longer than any other song ... ever ...

I also came across a cool website while trying to find out some info on the Tin Pan Alley composers of this 1938 song ... Bert Kalmar, Sid Silvers, Harry Ruby

For you art lovers ...

Superb.. retro at its best.
Wouldn't it be great if we could just go back in time to those days and see the men playing !!

Incidentally, Pat and I source a lot of our sheet music info from the site you came across.

It has its uses, like this..:-

Beautiful tone and vibrato. Rick, was this tune ever featured in a movie?

From a quick Goggle search ... it seems that it was only recorded by ...

Billy Cotton
The Hilo Hawaiian Orch.
Will Osborne & His Orch.

All circa 1938.

Bruce Clarke mentions in his liner notes on Vol. 9 ... that this version by Andy Iona was "lifted" from a Radio Transcription ... and was never released for commercial sale.

I really don't know anything more ... I'm no historian ...

I'm just enamored by the tune ...
