I'm new here so please bare with me. I won't know unless I ask.
Whats meant by Cabinet Drop??
I'm sure this is just one of many elementary ??

There have been numerous discussions of this in the past. A search would turn up a lot.
The term refers to the phenomenon that, on many (most?) pedal steels, when pedals are pressed, strings other than the pedaled ones go slightly flat. The term comes from the theory (there are others) that this is caused by the body (cabinet) of the guitar flexing from being pulled on by the pedal(s). |

| Dave, if you get a new , or a used"pro" guitar less than 25 years old, cabinet drop shouldn't really be a problem. I tend to think it's highly over-rated as a cause for real concern. |

I'm just trying to amass information for when the day comes. These forums are the best thing since sliced bread. I prospected for gold in Arizona for years using a metal detector. My best learning was thru the forums and some real "golden" friendships were made there. I'm moving to Austin in a few weeks and there's not much gold prospecting to be done there. Sooo, I figure I'll attempt something I've had in the back of my mind for a long time. I want to learn this for myself, but to also honor my Dad who always was a musical person, in voice and personality.
