No Sir! I could`ent do that... I will grant you the musicians are second to none! But you can`t buy a decent cup of hot tea anywhere you guy`s don`t even understand the concept you don`t know what your missing!! Also I`ve only been here a week and I reckon I`ve put on about 14 Lbs! I have three or four pairs of Jeans here that are going to the thrift shop.........But apart from that, Bobby Flores Band was fantastic, everything I thought it would be, Three of the best steel players in the world on one stage........ I would love to see those guys my side of the pond!!!Thanks for making my day:) |

Update on my travels....... Very sad to have missed the church service with Darvin in south Austin, got to south Austin at 10.45 for an 11`clock service only to realise I had mislaid the phone numbers given me... completely my fault....spent an hour driving around S.Austin getting hopelessly lost!
Anyway, I did make it to the Jam at Granger and it was fantastic! Bill Dearman made a better job of tuning my steel than I could ever have done.. and I really enjoyed playing and trying to avoid those two new extra strings on the twelve........
Thanks guys for making Sandra and I so welcome...come and see us in the UK some time.... |

John, I'm sorry you missed the service yesterday too, I think you would have enjoyed it. The band and singers were in fine form and everything "clicked". Some of these roads around here are a real nightmare, and there is always construction going on which further confuses trying to get anywhere. I'm glad you made it to the jam yesterday at least, and got some help with your new guitar.
Maybe I'll make it back to the UK someday. I used to travel a lot and made several trips there in the late '80's and early '90's. I spent many hours at Gatwick and Heathrow both. I changed jobs in '94 to get away from all that travel, and if it weren't for steel guitar conventions, I would probably never leave town.
I hope you have a good trip home. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |
