Hi Everyone,
I have a Sho bud super pro with ally necks.I also own an LDG which is really comfy to play. I dont play C6 neck so I am thinking of converting the super pro to an SD10 configuration.My question is- what are the 2 fixings I see on the top of the changer block- they look like bolts with an allen key fitting am i correct? .If so, what size key are they?.Has any one else on the forum done this type of mod.It appears to be a straight forward proceedure.The only thing I would need .is to make(or buy) a pad for the back neck.Are there any pit falls I may encounter.

The "2 fixings" on the top of the changer block are socket head cap screws. I changed mine back around 27 years ago so I could be wrong about the original size, but as I recall, they were 10-32. What that means is, the bolts were a #10 which is 3/16 of an inch, which is .187" (4.762_mm), with 32 threads per inch. This is considered a fine thread, as opposed to a coarse thread which would have been 10-24. A fine thread, tapped into cast aluminum, is a poor choice.
The cap screws in my Super Pro are 1/4-20. Which are 1/4 of an inch, .250" (6.35_mm), with 20 threads per inch. (Fine thread 1/4' bolts have 28 threads per inch.)
If you have 10-32 bolts, the Allen key you most likely need is, 5/32. If it's a 1/4" bolt, the Allen key is 3/16.
You might want to consider keeping the C6 neck. It's a very "friendly" tuning and it makes for a nice "vacation" if and when you get bogged down on the E9.

Hi Dave , If you don't sell it and go ahead with the change to sd10 if you want to sell some of the C6 fittings , i could do with a knee lever as mine broke a few weeks after i bought it back in 1980

Dave-If I wanted to do what you suggest, which I wouldn't. I would take the strings off the C6 neck and get a nice pad, they are available, and stick it on and now you have a a padded SD10.
Then if you ever want to use the C6 neck or sell it just put a set of C6 strings on it, take the pad off and you are in business again. Just my 2cents...al.
