Mark, Sorry if my attempts at humour came off as if I didn't know that time and money are an issue for many of us. PFFFT---I put the whole week on plastic!! I'll be workin it off for months. The "You blew it" was my way of expressing that I feel priveledged to have had the opportunity. Sarcasm is an artform in my family. I need to remember the sarcasm on/off button when in print.

Oh believe me, it is big time in our family as well-no sweat-I wasn't upset or anything.
The problem is, there are so many cool things happening on a more frequent basis these days relating to the steel guitar family of instruments-it's tough to get to a lot of them.
I have tentative plans to go to the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree next March, but I don't want to get excited yet, in case it doesn't work out.

I had a great time at this camp. Not only was the music amazing, but the brotherhood was inspirational, it was a steel love fest!
There was so much great music I hate to mention anything specific, but I've got to point out the country dance band, with twin steels (Bobby and myself) with Orville and Mike's singing and playing, the contribution from attendees like Colin (who ripped it up!). This was country music like you never hear it any more, and it doesn't get any better than Bobby Black playing western swing and country. I've got to thank Art, an attendee and phenominal piano player who backed me up pretty much everywhere I played. And of course I need to thank Orville, who did a great job on my solo set, and made me feel very comfortable playing dobro (anybody who knows me knows that Orville is about my favorite dobro player in the world).
Chuck and Darrick as usual showed their mastery of teaching and playing. Every time I heat the Campbells I am reminded of why I play music.
Sally and Freddy were a joy to hang out with and listen to.
It was just an unbelievable event, and I hope it will be repeated.

Dan, I really enjoyed your performance at the concert. You make those lap steels sing.
Thank you for the wonderful workshop on backing up a singer (or How to stump the pedal steeler). You offered great advice about the approach to backup. I was especially impressed by your questions to the singer regarding what the songs means to him so that you could evoke a mood to fit the song.
