I am in the middle of restoring a 71 P/P and have found several of the bell crank set screws to be either stripped or frozen, anyone know of an easy way to get those out without destroying the threads in the bell cranks?

If you have a small drill press, or if you're steady enough with a hand drill, buy a LH drill bit and ease the drill into the screw with the drill running slowly (backwards, of course). The flutes will catch at some point and spin the screw right out. These can be purchased at any industrial supply house. Get one a little smaller than the tap drill size for the setscrew thread.

| You can grind a small "slot" across the top of the screw with a dremel tool and then you can use a screwdriver to back it out. |

Jim, you've given me a great idea for extracting a broken thread section from a nylon nut.
(And never leave you nutdriver on the end tuners while moving the guitar about.)
