Jon, it's ironic that when I saw this post last night, I had just come from my studio where I'd been listening to Lani McIntire's Hawaiian Quartet, Royale 18103? Great stuff.

Great stuff, thanks. Does the album say when it was recorded by chance and who the steel player was? I know Lani played steel at times and he used different tunings. I hear C#m7 on everything but the chimes song. I don't know, maybe one of the basic open tunings? The chimes piece and the last song "you'a like" thing are pretty cool. The guitar player on the last tune is pretty good. Good stuff to record copy.  |

You're welcome! I checked the record jacket and the record itself and couldn't find anything at all about the year or the personel on the recordings. It appears to be a rather cheap record, the labeling is printed directly onto the vinyl, no paper label. The back of the jacket just lists other records the label had to offer according to categories. I wanted to share it with other steel players, so what better place? I'll look through my collection for more. Thanks for a great forum.

Lani McIntire was primarily a rhythm guitarist. I am fairly certain the steel guitarist on this album is actually the fabulous Bobby Nichols whom Lani used on most of his recordings.
EDITED: Actually, listening to those cuts, I doubt it is Lani McIntire's group at all...sounds like Eddie Bush on steel with the Harmony Hawaiians after Dick McIntire passed away.
