After I got my Double 12 superslide , I thought about selling the single neck 12 but yesterday changed my mind. Instead I lined it up behind my double and now have the world's first Triple-12 Superslide. I started working on the back tuning, basically adjusting Reece's basic 12 string tuning so that I could get full chords that i couldn't get with the other two necks: mainly augmented 7ths and 4 note diminished chords. Still tweaking. Today I'm going to Radio Shack to get an adapter to run both guitars into my Pod at the same time.
I now have a chord monster - just need to learn how to play it. [This message was edited by Bill McCloskey on 07 July 2006 at 06:46 AM.] |

Man you got more nerve than I've got.
I've got my hands full with just one set of 12 strings.

I sure applaud your spirit of adventure, Bill.
I would never try all that-seems too much like ascending Everest sans oxygen tanks!

Bill.....one more neck & you'll have a piano!
I imagine that you don't need to use slants. ? |

I have to say that with the t-12 I now have every 3 and 4 note chord you'd want available to me. Just knowing they are there is nice. I love the sound of those rich full chords coming out of a lap steel. My wife would laugh because I say this all the time, but I really think I've got my life's work set out for me (well my musical life's work at any rate).
I think there are two kinds of people in the world. Those who like to preserve the past and those who like to break with it. Neither is better than the other, but I'm definitely in the latter camp. I never wanted to sound like anyone else. |

Howard,
I can get everything with no slants, and all full chords. it will be fun to explore the possibilities. Now if I could only play like Reece! |

Bill. Could you please post a picture of the three necks set up together. This might be the only time in history that a set up like this could be seen. Must be impressive aside from being expensive! |

Well, Jim,
You are going to have to make a trip down to check it out: sounds great through my Rocky Top Amp which has become my amp of choice. Thanks for turning me on to that. |

Bill,
You must have monkey arms to reach that 3rd neck.
You may want to try an A/B switch. Moreley has one that is A, B or both. I have used it for years and it works great with no loss.
Have fun, I can't wait to see the pictures.

Okay,
I came to my senses and sold the single neck. Focusing on the double neck is enough to handle with my busy schedule. I'm afraid the only person who is going to see it is James Quackenbush who is buying my Dobro and is picking it up at the house tonight.
But as god is my witness....one day! |

It's good you didn't get too far up Everest without the oxygen.
You may have become another statistic!

So I made it to Bills last night and walked thru the door, and to my right was a small room with 36 strings worth of Superslides !! WOW to say the least !!!..... You look at this monster and think , hmmmmm , a horizontal Harp !!....I really have to say that this setup sounds INCREDIBLE thru that RockyTop amp !!...Fat and Full .....I think that "12" is gonna have to be Bill's good luck number !!....... ..........Jim |
