A wave rushes over me every time I hear "Someday Soon", but Buddy Emmons playing "Canon" or take your pick of several tunes from the black album, "Emmons Guitar Inc." do it for me. Non-pedal check out Tom Morrell doing "The Nearness of You" from his "Stylin" CD.

Buddy Emmons.. Canon in D major.... followed closely by his solo in Someday Soon..

Rusty Young solo in Bad Weather

Tom Brumley solo on instrumental version of Faded Love

Lloyd Green solo on Alan Jackson's Remember When

Curly Chalkers (or Johnny Coxs')version of "Shadow Of Your Smile" is probably my all time favorite. But, Tommy White did a great rendition of "Movin' On" on his latest album that I really like. (The Rascal Flatts song, not the Hank Snow song).

Tom ...You've got a lover IS a BEAUTIFUL steel piece, but its Lloyd Green on that cut.. I do believe Bruce and Lloyd were both on that album Highways and Heartaches... Ricky was doin' OK back then.. Imagine being able to have 2 steel players of THAT caliber on your album!!!! bob

Thanks Bob...we'll give credit where it is due! It is a beautiful bit of playing.

Now for the "evil Tom" opinion...I love the intro and solo to "Fire on the Mountain." by the Marshall Tucker Band. May not be technically correct by some standards but it do got soul!

'Once Upon a Time in The West' for me - a lovely melody and a near-perfect performance. I've often pondered that it was very smart of Buddy to see the potential in that piece of music.

Tom and Bob, it should be noted that Weldon Myrick is on Highways and Heartaches, too!!!

All three steel players play great on that album, but Lloyd Green's two songs were what drove me to take up pedal steel. His work on "You've Got a Lover" is wonderful, but the outro solo on "Nothing Can Hurt You" is just as, maybe even more (if that's possible), beautiful.
