The Shadow Of Your Smile tab with complete song, rhythm track and steel only solo. I played the steel only part slow enough for you to copy the tab as you play along. I originally learned this song on regular guitar then transcribed it to steel guitar. The standard guitar part is mostly all melody and was done through my Boss GT-8 with dual preamps delayed 30 ms from each other and recorded direct.

If you think of this song as being in Em (relative minor of G) and also in G, it breaks down fairly easily. In the beginning the E minor parts are played at the 7th fret where (3 frets up from the 4th fret no pedals E position) all the E minor notes are available. The B to Bb knee lever is invoked just to get a more flowing sound out of the scale.

Click here to hear only the steel guitar part played slowly.

Click here to see/print the Adobe .pdf tab file.

Click here to hear the solo.

Click here to hear the rhythm track.

Jeff Newman has a wonderful version on the "Music To Get C6 By" record/course, too. Wow I miss him - he was a giant.

Greg, I just went back and listened to "For the Good Time", man that is beautiful. The guitar is umbelivably tasteful and your steel work as always is superb. Thanks for posting it and reminding us about it. I usually don't look at the C6 stuff, so I had missed it. Thanks, DS
