Roland has a new Space Echo Pedal modeled after the old Roland Space Echo tape unit.

Check it out: http://www.roland.com/products/en/RE-20/index.html

I have the DD-20 pedal that models tape and anolog delays and I find it very warm sounding and flexible.
This should be interesting.

Thanks for the heads up Len. I hope they are available soon. With the simulation of analog echo, this could be a great alternative to digital delays.

This pedal has the COSM technology. I have several Roland products with the COSM and they do a reasonable job modeling. The original Space Echo had tape and would make noise and hiss after awhile and you needed to replace the tape and clean the heads. It will be interesting to try out this pedal but the DD-20 does everything for me.

I'll stick with my original! Not really that much trouble to maintain.

Can anyone describe the reverb sounds on the original? I'm curious if this new one will have the ultimate reverb/delay combo.

Like my old Echoplex, but cleaner. Less degradation in the repeats. Of course, no tubes. AND, you can get woozy watchin' the tape squirm around!

Doesn't the original have both tape delay and also spring reverb?

Yes Brad. It has a Mode Selector for various combinations of Echo Only, Reverb Only, and several combinations. The Reverb has a Depth Control, as well as Bass and Treble controls. I never used the reverb, I always used the reverb in my "64 Vibroverb. I liked it better. Bigger tank, I think it was the Roland 501 that included a pretty decent chorus.
Actually, I preffered the sound of my Echoplex to the Roland, but the Roland was less finicky.

It isn't even on the market yet. It is a preview that is posted on the website, I'd guess a few months and you'll see them.
