What a great guy. He came and found us after our opening set to shake our hands and thank us. A true gentleman and a genuine guy. (That's me in the black jacket and brown hat, bag-taggin him. )
5,000 people in attendance........a nice night of playing. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars

Good gig Chris. Kenny Rogers is a REAL entertainer. A true class act professional. What an honor. |

Chris,
I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Kenny yet.
My younger brother Brian Franklin plays lead guitar for him and Kenny has been a great boss!
Congratulations on opening for Kenny! |

Erik, you're dead-on there.
Thanks, everyone.........I was actually leaving the gig, on my way to another gig, when his manager stopped me and said, "hey wait, Kenny wants to meet you guys. He's just gonna greet a line-up of contest winners, then he wants to hang out for a few minutes before the show." So we grouped together in the backstage area and he came over, very relaxed and casual, and told us how much he enjoyed our band (he said we reminded him of Buck and the Buckaroos!!), and shook each of our hands, looked us all right in the eye with no trace of "just wanting to get it over with", and basically stood around chatting to us about his repertoire and how he tries to span his whole career throughout the show. I never really pictured Kenny Rogers to be one of the boys as such, but he really is.
Theresa, I wish I had to know it was your brother playing guitar. One of the guys in my band mentioned that there was a prodigy on guitar, and that he was amazing. Unfortunately, I missed the show because I had to take off to meet another engagement, but I definitely would have made a point to meet him and make the forum connection for sure.
Kevin, he truly is a class act for sure. It was an honor.
Ray, it was really nice to meet you as well. Maybe we'll get a chance to chat again next year.
P.S. I got to play the "Together Again" solo in a stadium for 5,000 people. And I didn't frigg it up! That was a highlight for me. _________________ Jackson Steel Guitars
