How long is the Sho-Bud scale length? Is it 22 1/4 or is it 22 1/8th?
I bought some Sho-Bud replacement white fingerboards to replace the Mullen's black ones, thinking that the Sho Bud's would be a match and then somebody said that I was in for a big heap of trouble if I went ahead with the switch because the scale lengths are different. Fortunately, I did not try to do anything with 'em just yet. Question I really don't need any more things in my life to feel dumb about, there's already plenty and I'd rather not add a botched fingerboard replacement to the list. Thanks.

Sho-Buds were 24", with a few exceptions that had a longer scale.
Don't know of any that had a shorter scale.

Back during the 8-str. days (up until about ’59, Sho-Bud Scale was 25”. When the 9-str. came into being, the scale was reduced to 24”, to accomodate the longer keyhead on the same 8-str. body, which also allowed for 8-str./9-str. conversions! That's what happened to my Original ’57 D–8 model. In ’60 it was converted to a D–9, by Shot.

Whenever I buy replacement fretboard I always lay them alongside the old ones to see how well they match up. I have had the replacements be up to 1/2 fret position off by the time they get up to Hughey land.
